Reid is in the middle of very carefully preparing a pot of coffee. There had been enough before but it was just painfully bad and no one should be inflicted with that.
So yes, there he was, very innocently making a decent cup of coffee when Garcia catches him and there might be spilled coffee grounds but since he doesn't really seem to have muhc of a choice in whether he stays and cleans up or goes to see what's happened, they will remain there, at least for a while.
"What's going on," he asks. "Is Hotch smiling again? Really Garcia, it does happen sometimes, you don't need to call the press about it."
Garcia looks to Reid with pointed expression, "No, while that would rank pretty high, I'd think it would only be, perhaps, heroin. That's enough to make Hotch smile, but it takes a lot to see this. LSD, maybe, acid? Just wait until you see."
Five ventures out a little farther and looks about the bullpen, "Now really, are you quite sure we have the right place?" He pats the TARDIS and looks to the blue box before adjusting his hat, seeming rather disappointed.
He wanted to see Spencer, of course, but it wasn't looking likely here. He moves over to one of the desks, pulling out his sonic screwdriver in case, and rifles about for signs of a calendar. Well, until he sees the computer. It's only then he's clicking away through a database or two...
And he wondered why he so often got into trouble.
"You know," he starts as he tries to keep up with her. "I'm going to be really disappointed if this isn't that-Oh...Oh no."
He darts around Garcia as soon as he spots the TARDIS weaving his way through desks until he reaches the Doctor. "Doctor, what rea you doing here?!"
A pause.
"Hello, by the way, it's great to see you but really, you uhm...You can't be here. You really can't be here." Don't mind the shifty eyes and the attempts to pull Five back into the TARDIS, he's just trying to get him out before somoen pulls out a gun.
The Doctor looks up as he hears Spencer's voice and grins widely. "Aha, so I did find the right timeline, then!"
yet, when he is urged towards the TARDIS, there is a distinct look of confusion on his face. "Ah, but why not? I perfectly can, you know. The coordinates are set correctly, we materialized efficiently..."
Garcia might just have an aneurism, give her a moment to gather words.
"Reid, you know him? Am I dreaming? Pinch me?" She steps closer, gaping at the man. Five just wriggles out of Spencer's grasp and smiles to her, "Hello there, I'm the Doctor. I assume you are a colleague of Spencer's, then? am I correct?"
Reid listens silently, about to open his mouth before Garcia cuts in. Oh, oh this was just great.
Looking around, he attaches himself to the Doctor again, trying to get him to move back in the direction of the TARDIS. "You know I was kidding before," he says. "About materializing here." He looks to Garcia for encouragement. "Tell me he can't park the TARDIS here. Really, we can all do the introduction thing as soon as we're anywhere but here."
Don't mind the flailing, really it'll stop soon enough.
Garcia smiles widely, practically hopping up and down with excitement as she shakes his hand, "Yeah, yeah I am. Penelope.. And... and your the Doctor. The Doctor."
The Doctor laughs and nods, "Yes, yes that is me, inde--- Spencer, what is it now?"
He looks to the other with those arms about him and seems rather flustered, but looks to Garcia with an eyebrow raised.
As much as the woman would rather keep him here (or not wake up, she's not sure what's going on) she nods, "It's probably better for your regeneration, Doctor, really, if you move it. I don't know how receptive Hotch will be to the change in decor. Or Gideon, for that matter. But I would love to see their reactoins." A grin.
He actually looks a tiny pit crossed when the Doctor responds to him. Really, this is his timeine, he knows what they should and shouldn't be doing right about now. Oh but there's relief when Garcia backs him up because maybe, with the both of them urging him, something might actually get done.
Oh, who was he kidding, they were all going to get shot at and things would go to hell, it's just a matter of counting off the seconds at this point.
"Well," a voice says from above them. "I think I can give you a little bit of a clue on our reactions." Oh look, there is a Hotch. With gun.
Reid mentally notes that this actually took longer than he expected but he'll keep quiet about that for now.
"Reid, Garcia, both of you step away from him." He moves down the stairs, keeping his gun pointed at the Doctor. "Who are you and how did you get into this office?"
Garcia tenses at hearing Hotch's very firm, familiar voice. And by his order, she will step back away, but not too far. Now this was easily becoming a nightmare.
Five looks a little more than amused as eyes lift and there is a gun pointed in his direction. He was never quite fond of getting shot, so he offers up both of his hands meekly, even with the sonic screwdriver obviously placed in one.
He also notes movement elsewhere and catches sight of Gideon, who has his gun aimed and a clam, but very stern expression on his face as well.
"Ah, I think there has been a great misunderstanding, I'm afraid..." Five steps back, closer to the TARDIS, "I arrived here in this, and really, the guns aren't necessary, are they...?"
And of course, he hears one more cock of a gun, loading and ready, the soft slide of metal on metal.
"Both of you back slowly over here towards me," Morgan says cooly before gesturing the gun towards Five, "and you, drop that in your hand and place your hands behind your head. Don't think 'bout movin', either." He's rounding on Five, hoping to put himself between the two brainy sort and the intruder.
If Reid could bang his head against the wall, he really would. Giving an apologetic look towards the Doctor, he'll back away, moving to stand behidn Morgan but keeping a careful watch over all fo them.
"He's not going to do anything," he starts. "Really, everything he says is true, he just..." Reid considers all the things he could possibly say in defense of the Doctor. "He just has bad luck and bad timing, that's all."
Hitch gives him a look that clearly states he thinks Reid has finally gone mad, started using drugs again, or possibly been influenced within the minutes that he and the other two hadn't arrived.
"The guns are very necessary," Hotch states as he approaches. "You and that box arrive out of nowhere in a Federal office. Where you expecting a welcome wagon?"
Reid takes a step closer but Hotch turns to him. "Stay there," he commands and Reid does just that, not wanting to agitate the situation any further.
"You should relinquish any and all weapons you may have on you right now. Morgan, call and tell them that we need to get this....Box locked up, at least until we verify who he actually is."
A pause.
"You two," directed at Reid and Garcia, go wait for me in my office. I'll be there in a minute."
The Fifth Doctor almost feels a little betrayed when Reid backs away with the others. He was surely hoping things would be explained, but he sighs.
Of course. This was how it always turned out, wasn't it?
Emptying his pockets as he is ordered to relieve himself of any weapons, he drops a cricket ball, the sonic screwdriver, some string, a tea cosy and a stray sugarcube, to the floor.
Morgan gives a nod as the things are dropped and he moves quickly to collect everything (not without an odd stare) before moving off to make the call, keeping his eye on the intruder.
Gideon moves down as well, his gun aimed carefully, "Strange, that you suddenly show up. Reid's never mentioned you before, and somehow, you're the best of friends. Doesn't that seem a little odd? I think we should have a chat."
Five panics when they mention locking up the TARDIS and backs up, his back against it. He's afraid that they'll take her, he doesn't want to lose her to a bunch of simple-minded 21st century Earthians. Gideon takes an extra step foward and on cue, the door to th TARDIS opens, out slipping a curly haired girl who wraps her arms tightly around the Doctor, putting her back to them.
"Don't hurt him..." She mumbles, and there might even be a dirty look passed to Reid, becaue he was a Companion! He was supposed to help look after the Doctor, too.
Five is mildly surprised but lowers his arms to rest around her, "TARDIS..."
Garcia really isn't sure how to react, but she follows Hotch's orders and starts slowly moving for the staircase, unsurely.
Hotch raises an eyebrow at the contents of his pockets, before nodding. He doesn't like this, doesn't like any of it. People don't just show up out of the blue, not without intentions and usually those intentions aren't the best. Add in the fact that that he had been alone with two agents who had done nothing about it....Well, it bothers him.
"Who are you," Hotch simply says. "You said you knew Reid but who are you." He's not expecting a real name but he needs something to call this guy.
Looking to Gideon a moment, when the TARDIS appears but his attention is soon drawn back to the two of them. "We won't hurt him if he doesn't give us a reason to but we need to know who both of you are and how you managed to get in here completely undetected."
Reid is looking from Hotch and Gideon, to the Doctor and TARDIS, to Gargia. Oh how he wished he could be anywhere, absolutely anywhere, but here right now. But he isn't and it doesn't look like he'll be escaping ay time soon.
Moving to lean over the railing a little, he starts. "He's the Doctor and he is my friend. I met him...While I was on sick leave. I told the girl out front that he was coming and she said she'd let him if he ever came around. I wasn't expecting him today but...But everything he says is true."
He closes his eyes and takes a deep breath. God, he didn't even believe himself.
It's pretty clear that Hotch doesn't either but he'll look to Gideon, silently questining his opinion on the matter at hand.
Five sighs deeply and pets the TARDIS's head lightly, trying to ease her a little bit. It's not often she's like this, really, but she isn't quite willing to let this Doctor go yet.
"I'm the Doctor, and this is the TARDIS." There's a small smile, "I could go farther, if you'd like, explain it all, but I can guarantee you that you won't believe me, Agent Hotchner. And you're Agent Gideon, correct? You two have quite the adventure in store, you know." Bright smile.
Gideon seems to think very lowly of Reid's excuse, so he looks to Hotch and gives a shake of the head. Not to mention the 'Doctor's words? Not comforting in the slightest. He steps forward again, even so that the gun is aimed up at his head and there isn't a whole lot of space between him and the Doctor.
He's about to speak with the TARDIS unlatches herself from Five and moves toward Hotch quickly, "Don't hurt him."
He knew from the beginning that this wouldn't end well but when Five says their names that they were all doomed.
"Doctor, he calls out. "Just stop. You're not going to--" But he stops as the sounds of shots ring out.
It was an impulse reaction, one that he'll later reflect on and absolutely hate but right now he simply couldn't take chances.
"Reid moves back down the stairs but doesn't go passed either Hotch or Gideon. It's clear he's worried though and he looks to the Doctor, almost afraid of what the consequences of Hotch's actions would be.
Like he thought before, they were all doomed.
The moment he hears the gunshots, Five tenses considerably. Looking down, he sees the TARDIS falling and moves to at least try and catch her, but only ends up kneeling near her.
The TARDIS wasn't expecting that, wasn't thinking that he would actually shoot. So when the bullet pierced her side, she yelped and fell into Five. If only listens closely, the cloister bell is sounding loudly from within the blue box as she suffers.
"That was completely unecessary! She is harmless!" He snaps, looking up to Hotch before down to the TARDIS's wound. Pulling her hand away, he curses quietly at the sight of it and moves to help her up when she fades from sight.
"What in Rassilon's name did you think you were doing?" He tries to turn and rush back to the entrance of the TARDIS, but finds hes met by a gun and a Gideon who is blocking the door.
It's now that Five realizes he is helpless, and he wants to get to the TARDIS, wants to help her, to start repairing and counting the damage, but here he is, at gunpoint by two men.
"What is it you need from me? I can very well leave and never again show my face here."
He had only wanted to visit Spencer, because he did miss him. But perhaps things were better off without him?
Hitch is about to offer a rebuttal but he finds it's a little hard to form words since the girl up and vanished on him. He blinks, looking at the spot where she'd been and then looking at five.
"Where did she go<" he blurts out. "She was right there and she's..."Gone."
Reid takes this moment to slip around Hitch and try and get to Five. "Is she going to be okay," he asks, looking to the TARDIS and wanting rather badly to go in and see her properly.
Seeing more guns, he cant help but wince a little. It's not like they did any good before...
"What we want," Hotch starts, moving to stand beside Reid. "Is for you to come with us. We'll ask you a number of questions and if everything checks then you'll be free to do whatever you want. I think that's perfectly fair, don't you?"
Five won't admit how happy he is to have Spencer actually approach him and he looks down to him and frowns, "I can't be sure. That is the cloister bell, she's brutally damaged."
He was worried for his TARDIS, especially with the way she disappeared like that -- she never does that.
"She's gone back to the ship..." Five murmurs to the man. Gideon presses closer from behind and Five sighs. "You won't believe my answers, I promise on all my lives. So I will merely be wasting time answering your questions, and the TARDIS will continue to have damage done. I am weaponless, search me if you must!"
Now, he's frustrated again and anxious, anxious because that is is practical best friend injured within the confines of her blue walls.
"Just calm down. We'll get you in for a few questions and then you'll be free to go once we've run everything through. It's a simple task, you might be wasting more time arguing..." Gideon tries to reason.
Five didn't like this one bit.
The words 'brutally damaged' rest heavy in his mind as does the faint sound of the cloister bell. This was getting worse and worse and standing there thinking that they were all doomed? Not helping the situation one bit.
It's with all this in mind that Reid falls silent, letting his eyes close as he thinks of something, anything he can do.
Hotch on the other hand, has no plans of growing silent. "You'd be surprised what you could get us to believe but right now, we're not going to trust a thing you have to say until you let us talk to you."
Reid will take this time to back up a few steps so that he's standing just a tad bit behind Hotch. "Go with them, Doctor," he urges. "Really, it won't be that bad, I'll come too! We can all sit down and talk and get this all sorted out..."
Hotch looks to Reid a moment. "I want to talk to him alone first."
A nod. "Okay," Reid rephrases. "You and Gideon can talk to him alone while I wait here for someone to pick up the TARDIS."
When Hotch gives him a look that clearly states that he would rather not have Reid alone with the randomly appearing box, Reid sighs again.
"Garcia can stay with me and Morgan should be back here in a few minutes. We'll all wait wait for them."
He looks beyond Hotch and straight to FIve, silently begging him to go with them.
Five notices the look on Reid's face and isn't sure whether or not to go with them or to stand his ground. To protect his TARDIS, but something tells him to trust his companion, and thus, he does.
"Very well, lead the way then, good sirs." Five gives a small grin and looks between Gideon and Hotch.
Garcia, at hearing her name, nods if Hotch looks over to her, showing she will eagerly stay with him. She figures Reid might be up to something, but she doesn't say anything just yet.
"Yeah, we can handle this part of it, promise." A winning smile.
Gideon nods, "Don't let this thing out of your site, and keep on your guard." There's a glance to Five and an even more stern look to Reid before he starts to lead the Doctor away.
And once out of earshot?
"What're we gonna do about the TARDIS?" Garcia whispers.
As soon as he sees that Five plans to cooperate, he visibly relaxes, taking in a deep breath. At east now there might be a chance that something can get done.
When Garcia questions him, he starts digging around in his pockets for a moment before he pulls out his key and grins at her.
"Now c'mon," he says, his voice low. "Let's go before Morgan gets back."
He unlocks the door and slips inside, becking to Garcia to follow. It's strange to be back in the TARDIS, strange but quite nice as well. He's missed her desperately but the sound of the cloister bell going off reminds him that he doesn't have much time to reminisce.
"I'm sorry," are the first words out of his mouth as he runs a hand along the control panel. "Really, they're not always like that." He'd say more but he's too busy trying to recall anything and everything the Doctor, or even the TARDIS herself had told him about operating and maintaining her.
Somewhere else, in an empty office close to the BAU Hotch has settled himself at a table and beckoned the Doctor to sit as well. He's not even sure how to begin with the questioning, his mind still a bit boggled by everything and, if Gideon has decided to join them, he will look to him before taking a breath and beginning to speak.
"Do you have any sort of verification of identity?"
Garcia follows him into the TARDIS, gaping, at first, because he has a key. A key, to the TARDIS. She knows she should feel guilty for leaving MOrgan out there, but screw that! This was her sci-fi fantasty right here.
"Is she going to be okay...?" She's itching to touch the console, to start looking at things because maybe, her knowledge of 21st century technology and the show could help her.
The TARDIS reacts under Reid's touch, noting him friendly. A very blurred form of herself appears and clings to Reid, burying her face in against his shoulder.
"Is the Doctor okay?" She can repair herself in due time, but...
Five seems a little flustered, but settles into a chair.
"I honestly don't. I am the Doctor. I can explain everything about myself, how I met your colleague and whatnot, but, as i mentioned before, I'm not quite sure you will believe it."
He's about to reply to Garcia when the TARDIS shows up and he's hugging her right back, something he hadn't quite anticipated on doing.
"He's going to be fine," he assures. "Hotch took him down for questioning. We'll go back iand get him in a few minutes, I promise, but he had to make sure you were all right first."
Looking to Garcia a moment, he smiles almost sheepishly. "Think you could help a little?" he questions hopefully. "I know how to a little but usually the Doctor's here and she can help out and..." Don't mind if he sounds just a little desperate, all he wants is to make this right, that's all.
Hotch takes a breath, letting hs eyes slide shut for a moment. He lets himself get centered again, because after what he'd seen earlier, he couldn't help but let himself get a little off-kilter.
"Alright," he replies. "Expain then."
The TARDIS nods and winces, a decent amount of sparks emitting from the console as she does so.
Garcia looks at her with great concern before nodding at Reid's statement. She might be able to help a little bit, anyway. "Just show me where to start and we can get her patched up."
Five sighs. Part of him wanted to look up at the other man and just shake his head. Really, really, was he going ot have to do this?
"I am what they call a Time Lord. I come from a planet called Gallifrey, which is located in the constellation of Kasterborous, at galactic coordinates ten-zero-eleven-zero-zero by zero-two from galactic zero centre. It's about two hundred and fifty million light years away from us at this very point. Give or take a few, certainly."
There's a moment of consideration before he continues, "One of the key signatures to advanced and intelligent Time Lords is the TARDIS, though only mine is that lovely blue box you saw. Rather attractive, isn't she? London Police Box circa the 1960s. Roughly. Poor thing's chameleon circuit is broken. I've always meant to fix it, you know, could come handy in moments such as these."
There's a shake of the head and a sigh, "Not that it matters. But it's a Time and Relative Dimension's in Space machine. A time machine, as you all call it, I'm sure. I met Spencer in one of my travels, have spent time with him and have popped back in for a visit! I thought I would be warmly welcomed, but hardly so."
He looks up in thought, tapping fingertips against his chin, "And I'm the Doctor. A name I've given myself. Theta is one I've seemed to have long ago outgrown. Are you quite happy now?"
Reid winces a little himself as the sparks fly and he might even hug the TARDI a bit tighter for just a second.
“Is there anything we can do,” he asks then, eyes flickering to the console a moment. “Or should we just...Just let you fix yourself?”
He's not really comfortable with the second option, not at all, but he knows that the TARDIS can do amazing and wonderful things, like take care of her own gunshot would and if they were going to just get int eh way, he thought it better to just not get involved at all.
Hotch is silent throughout his entire speech, occasionally giving the slight twitch of a brow or nod of the head. He's decided that while the Doctor may be litte threat to the BAU as a whole, he may or may not be in need of some psychiatric help.
He's also going to have a talk with the girls who walk at the front desks later about their security precautions but that can happen later.
“How did you meet Reid? Did you pick him up in your...TARDIS?” At this point, he's merely trying to see how far the delusion extends.
"You might be able to help... it takes a lot of energy to do this on my own." The TARDIS winces again and clings to Reid a little tighter, as though he was the very force keeping her up and awake. "A few wires snapped, some singed. They just need simple repairs."
Garcia perks up, smiling. "I can help you with that." A bright, bright smile. "Just tell me where to go and I can fix you up."
The TARDIS looks at her and then looks to Reid, as though wondering if this girl was safe or not.
Five wants to plant his face into the table. He wants to hit his head so hard that he will be passed out and won't have to deal with this imbecile.
"I met him at a lovely little place called the Inn. It's between time and space, no coordinates, no specific timeline. I could show you, but you've gone and shot my TARDIS. Which I really do need to attend to..."
The Doctor sighs and shrugs, figuring it was better to just go ahead and tell him, "He stumbled in rather injured, I took care of him, got him back into tip-top shape. He stayed in my TARDIS for a while, still has his room there and everything." Here, there is a vague hint of a smile, but it doesn't last long, "And he decided to come back here. I promised to visit and, well, as I said before, here I am." | |
