If Five can tear his eyes away from the sky, he might catch sight of a certain older regeneration sitting next to a small fire. He's been there for quite some time, eyes closed and a slight smile on his face.
Soon enough his eyes will open and he'll catch sight of the younger one, and make an attempt to creep over to him.
"We've been to most of them," he whispers. "Or we will."
Five doesn't really see the other male until eyes drop at the sound of a whisper. Granted, he can feel the older Doctor's approach, but says nothing until he's spoken to.
"I've always thought the Earth's skies were by far the most beautiful." Save for one particular planet. One that makes his heart soar and burn all at once at just a thought. "Seems, sometimes, like you can see everything from everywhere."
His words are a whisper in return, "It's fascinating, really." And here, Eight, you'll get the rare glimpse of a Five smile. One that's soft, warm and filled with more life than it's had in a good while.
"That opinion doesn't change any time soon," he replies as he moves closer, one arm coming to wrap around the Fifth's elbow. "I rather think they'll be our favorite for a long time to come."
The smile coaxes one of his own, not that it's hard to do that, especially if you're Five. "You can never just glance up for a quick peek, it demands much more attention than that."
He tilts his head towards the sky, eyes darting from star to star, all so familiar and yet he knows that so many of them sill demand to be explored.
"I always miss the skies the most."
Five lifts his arm a little as the other male's links with his own. He's always been fond of these moments, walking arm in arm, just to talk, exist.
It's something simple in their lives which were brought to the universe to be anything but.
"They're phenomenal." He'll be silent for a long moment before a deep sigh escapes his lips, "Would you like to get a cuppa tea or two?"
"As long as we can have it outside." He gestures to the spot he'd been occupying before he came and joined Five. "It's a rather comfy little spot I've set up for myself."
Not that he really cares. Still, getting to share a night by a fire is like sharing a winter's day in Eight's mind and he thinks that Five might actually enjoy this a little more tool.
"I don't see why not." Five will nod, especially thankful for the fire. He likes being warm, he does.
He'll start walking towards the fire, just thinking up their tea this time around, offering Eight's to him.
"And it's a lovely night out."
Taking the tea, he sips at it and smiles. "Yes, that's one thing I've found so wonderful about the Inn, always such lovely nights."
He'll settle himself back in his spot, scooting aside just a little so that the other might have room to sit as well.
"So, does this mean that I'm going to have to start a fire to lure you outside from now on?"
Settling in beside the older Doctor, Five laughs lightly.
"Perhaps. I'm not fond of the cold and this makes it bearable."
He'll sip at his tea, looking about before his eyes rest on the fire again. "Though I can't guarantee you will be able to get me out here too much, anyway."
Once the other Doctor has settled himself, Eight snuggles up next o him, his head promptly finding the other's shoulder and eyes closing contentedly.
"Only bearable?" A pout. "I was hoping that it might sway you entirely but I suppose bearable is better than nothing."
He shrugs. "Well, considering I think it a victory every time I get you out here period, I think every little bit of coaxing helps."
"Only bearable, sorry." Five chuckles softly dropping a kiss into the man's hair. And look, he might even slip an arm around the other male's back, tugging him a little closer, fingers drumming against his side.
He gives a light sigh, "And how long do you plan on keeping me out here?" He teases. | |
